This Just In: Do Vaccines Change the Course of Menstruation?

A recent New York Times article connects the pandemic with women’s health and with my recent blogging about inflammation. 


Lu-Culligan and Epstein use this moment when many are questioning the connection between menstruation and vaccines to point out the lack of research and knowledge about women’s cycles.


Our periods are influenced by numerous variables – stress, nutrition, exercise, the number of daylight hours we are exposed to in a day.  As such, menstruation is an indicator of total body health.


The process of shedding the uterine lining during menstruation is in part an inflammatory response.  Getting vaccinated may affect our periods too, as vaccination depends on an inflammatory response.
